How to: Make thumbs big in features?
I get this asked a lot!
Back when they introduced sta.sh, I didn't really use it. Because it seemed hard to get used to. I always wrote my articles in the old way.
Then I toyed with it a little and noticed that is is something really awesome!
Not to mention that the only way to make articles and journals is through Sta.sh Writer.
So I assume not so many if you know that there is a way to make thumbs big!
That is actually pretty easy. All you have to do is add big in front of a thumb code!
For example:
: thumb159252268 :
This is the "regular" size
:thumb159252268:
: bigthumb159252268 :
This is the big size
Of course: without the spaces b

Direct link requirements on DDs
I spoke with fourteenthstar (https://www.deviantart.com/fourteenthstar) and moonbeam13 (https://www.deviantart.com/moonbeam13), and we decided that you should no longer have to put direct links to stock pictures in order to get a DD. So, you no longer need to direct link your stock pi
First, let me clarify: I'm not just talking about premade backgrounds, but also about cut-out stock and brushes or anything else where people use images (their own or other people's) to create the resource. And while this is mainly geared toward members of Photomanipulated (https://www.deviantart.com/photomanipulated), I do hope that this journal will also be able to shed some light on things for others.
Personally, I've never been a fan of premade backgrounds, but I'm also not the type of person who thinks everyone else should do as I say just because I have a bad feeling about something. So far, that held true for premades: I steered clear of them because I feared copyright issue

Premade Backgrounds and Group Submission Changes
:new: This has been reposted from The-Stock-Directory (https://www.deviantart.com/the-stock-directory) upon request so that it can be requested for groups. :) Feel free to request it!
Today we're going to address the "Circle of Stock." Cue Disney's "The Lion King" theme song and call me Mufasa. Just like in the circle of life, what we do affects another group, and returns to affect us again. We have a responsibility to the artists that use our stock to provide legitimate and safe stock resources. As an administrator for a few art groups as well as stock groups, I have seen what happens to the artists who use invalid stock resources. They have had their art declined, or had to replace

Disclaimer: I'm no lawyer, I do not work for deviantArt, I'm merely someone who has been doing photomanips for quite a while and has taken the time to read quite a few articles on the topic. The views expressed hereunder are mine alone. They do not reflect any "official dA opinion" nor are they to be taken as "legal advice". Furthermore, you may live in a country that hasn't signed any of the treaties that govern international copyright law, so you'd have to check with your country's national laws.
I strongly urge you to not only read the journal, but also the comments underneath it as there are a lot more examples of what you can and can't

Elements And Principles--Art 101
I wrote this article for my members at ManipulateThis (https://www.deviantart.com/manipulatethis) when I found that most of them had no idea what I was speaking about when I try to explain something in their deviation concerning a principle or element of design. So, since this is PhotoManipulation month, I thought I'd educate those of you who did not know about the Elements And Principles of design, and how to use the Elements to help you add pizazz to your deviations.
Elements and Principles of Design
Introduction
:bulletpink: Question: What is meant by the Elements and Principles of Design?
:bulletgreen: Answer: Elements are the parts of a design, and the Principles are way
